Why Attention to Generational Distinctions Matter

Knowledge, attitudes and perspectives are influenced by the times we are born into and
experience as we age. Intentional inclusion and interaction among people from all
generations maximizes our collective wisdom.

Paul Hetland is a retired ne’er-do-well who lives in Tucson, Arizona. He’s worked primarily as a teacher, teacher trainer, teachers union organizer, and as a tax lawyer. In addition, he has served as an agricultural adviser in Nepal, as a deckhand and mate on Mississippi River towboats, as a counselor for emotionally disturbed children, and as a Congressional aide. He practices martial arts, studies theology, and works as a docent at Tucson’s Desert Museum. He frets (and proselytizes) about climate breakdown, and about environmental, migrant, and social justice more generally. He’s optimistic.
